Dr Yeo Sow Nam who is also Consultant and Director of Pain Management, and Director of Acupuncture Services at Singapore General Hospital. He is also the President of Pain Association of Singapore and a Ministry of Health appointed advisory member for Pain Management.
Dr Yeo is trained in Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney and was the first in Singapore to obtain accreditation in the pain management specialty, awarded by the Australian and New Zealand Faculty of Pain Medicine. He is also the first Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (USA) in Singapore and a registered acupuncturist. He is also a Consultant Anaesthetist and had accreditation by both the local Specialist Accreditation Board and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Yeo has been described as evangelical in Pain Management and has given over 100 local and international lectures and has also published over 70 articles and abstracts. He is also the co-author for Ministry of Health's Clinical Practice Guidelines for Cancer Pain and also the author of the Ministry Of Health's Clinical Practice Guidelines for Use of Opioids for Non Cancer Pain. Recognising pain being multidisciplinary, he started an Advisory Board of many members of different disciplines for the Pain Association of Singapore.
His current research is in a large epidemiological survey of the prevalence and impact of chronic pain in Singapore.
