Dr Siow Hua Chiang, Charles is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. After completing his housemanship in Dublin, he went to the USA where he trained in Internal Medicine in Boston, Neurology in Richmond, Virginia and then completed a fellowship in Headache Management at the world reknowed Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia under Professor Stephen Silberstein.
He was then asked to remain on staff at the Jefferson Headache Center as attending neurologist for 2 years before returning to Singapore. On return, he was employed as Consultant Neurologist at the National Neuroscience Institute running its headache program before leaving to set up this centre.
Dr Siow is board certified in Neurology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is also board certified in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine.
He is an author of multiple papers and book chapters as well as a reviewer for various journals. He is currently President of the Headache Society of Singapore (HSS) and was instrumental in setting up the Asian Headache Foundation (AHF) of which he is secretary. Dr Siow is also the executive committee of the Pain Association of Singapore (PAS).
These societies are dedicated to the research, education and support of headache conditions and sufferers in Singapore and the Asian region.
His particular interests include treatment of severe headaches for which he offers infusion and botulinum therapy among others for. There is also an inpatient pain programme for more intractable patients. Dr Siow also performs nerve blocks and trigger point injections for chronic pain management.
